Flora Barrow and David Magner

Flora Barrow and David Magner

Ariel meets Crow

Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath are two of the greatest poetic voices to emerge from the 20th Century. Two brilliant writers who came together for a turbulent period of time. This presentation will look at the life, loves and poetry of these poetic giants.

Flora: I am a recent inhabitant of McGregor. When I arrived in October 2015,I decided to open a cafe restaurant. This has been a journey of a very different type of learning and growth for me, as I come from a background of counselling,as well as art and design. I had a brief theatrical history in the early 80’s, mainly at the Glass Theatre in Cape Town. Revisiting performance, in this small way, both terrifies and excites me, something that I feel compelled to explore. I feel honoured to be part of this presentation at this year’s McGregor Poetry Festival.

David Magner moved to McGregor four years ago after a lifetime spent in education in Durban. He has always been a lover of poetry, and has been involved in the McGregor Poetry Festival from its inception. An ardent fan of the arts, David enjoys music, drama and generally playing the fool! This is his third presentation at the Festival, and his first with Flora.
