Shipwrecks and citywrecks
Whether the submerged mythical city of Atlantis, or the wreck of the Titanic, the sea as a devourer of civilizations and technologies has long been an object of fascination to artists. In this reading, Claire Trévien will read both her own poems and that of other poets on the theme.
Claire Trévien is the anglo-breton author of The Shipwrecked House (Penned in the Margins, 2013), and Astéronymes (Penned in the Margins, 2016). The Shipwrecked House was the reader’s choice in the Guardian First Book Awards and toured the United Kingdom as a one-woman show. She founded Sabotage Reviews. The Museum of Poetry
The Museum of Poetry
Grab a pair of headphones and explore a museum unlike any other. Taking place in the Edna Fourie Gallery, each track by a different poet will make you look at your surroundings differently. This collaborative sound work involves South African and British poets.
Workshop: Upcycling Poetry
Upcycling refers to the process of recycling an object in such a way as to improve it from the original. Bring poems that are misbehaving, poems you have given up on, poems that you can’t seem to finish. Through a variety of techniques, this workshop will help participants breathe new life into tired work.
